According to Vestas, the installation of the prototype turbine will begin in the second half of 2022. The on-track development of the V236-15.0 MW™ proves Vestas’ commitment to driving the offshore wind industry forward by offering customers a product which delivers excellent performance while reducing the number of turbines at park level.
The power more than 20,000 households prototype will be installed at the Østerild National test center for large wind turbines in Western Jutland, Denmark. During the initial period of operations, Vestas will collect data needed to obtain a Type Certificate, a key step in reaching serial production of the turbine in 2024.
