Google is world’s champion in green energy consumption, For five years now, Google has matched all its energy consumption with renewable energy, and is planning to use 100% carbon-free energy.
According to Google, company will enable 5 GW of new carbon-free energy across key manufacturing regions by 2030 through investment. Google expect this to spur more than $5 billion in clean energy investments, avoid the amount of emissions equal to taking more than 1 million cars off the road each year, and create more than 8,000 clean energy jobs.
Google is helping 500+ cities reduce 1 gigaton of carbon emissions annually by 2030. Cities create 70 percent of the world’s emissions. Google Environmental Insights Explorer helps more than 100 cities to track and reduce their building and transportation carbon emissions and maximize their renewable energy use, by informing them of their solar potential. Today, we’re expanding this tool to 3,000 cities worldwide.
Google is also committing to help more than 500 cities and local governments globally reduce a total of 1 gigaton of carbon emissions annually by 2030, that’s the equivalent of the annual carbon emissions of a country the size of Japan.
