Facebook has stated that is fully committed to the science based target initiative, aligning the corporate climate goals with the latest science.
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), the philanthropic organization founded by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, pledged $44 million in funding for solutions to climate change today. Most of the money goes towards efforts to capture carbon dioxide building up to dangerous levels in the atmosphere.

The renewable energy commitments by Facebook is leading to the construction of over 5,400 megawatts (MW) of new solar and wind power plants globally, equivalent to reducing our GHG emissions by more than 2.6 million metric tons over the past three years. Facebook will continue to reduce emissions in line with climate science through its’s operational efficiency efforts and maintaining 100 percent renewable energy.
